Travel has been a constant part of my life. As a result of my father’s service in the military I have lived in 19 houses including in Germany, Northern Ireland and Cyprus. The itinerant lifestyle has taught me a lot about the practicalities of living abroad, including the importance of understanding the local religion, food, culture customs and, importantly, attitude towards outsiders. However, it has been the trips that I have taken as a young adult that have really taught me ‘how to travel’ as well inspired my love for it.

Travelling to Delhi in order to work with a small charity in the slums concentrating on female empowerment and education of the local children, was the most fulfilling and challenging experience of my life. Aside from the immense emotional growth I experienced, getting to grips with the local transport services, working around my own dietary requirements and avoiding illness were valuable lessons that helped my preparation for future travel and for a working life. In 2021, in between travel restrictions and PCR tests, I travelled throughout Mexico. It was a hugely inspiring if fraught trip with plenty  trials and tribulations. I am adamant that travel will continue to be a prominent aspect of my life, with another trip to India on the cards and a long list of places I want to see and experience, I can safely say I have the bug for it.

Besides travel, I have always been interested in marketing as potential career path. Having studied sociology at the University of Bristol, I was drawn to the modules that looked at the behaviours and patterns of customer or audience consumption, whether that be via social media or advertising. Needless to say I had a lot of fun too. Bristol is a great city in which to be student, whether that be Tuesday night jazz bars or dancing until the morning at a street party, it was a lot of fun!

I intend to bring together my love for travel, marketing, and fun  and work the best I can for and with the team @betravelwise. I am beyond grateful that they have given me a chance and place to start the next chapter of my life.
